The University of Kigali (UoK) has launched the Journal of Financial and Management Sciences (JFMS), an academic platform dedicated to advancing knowledge in finance, economics, and management-related disciplines. This milestone marks a significant step in the University’s commitment to fostering a research-driven academic culture and contributing to the global exchange of innovative ideas.

Journal of Financial and Management Sciences

Prof. Felix Maringe, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Institutional Development, Research and Innovation at UoK, emphasized that the Journal of Financial and Management Sciences reflects the University of Kigali’s strategic vision to position itself as a research and academic discourse leader. Focusing on critical areas such as corporate finance, financial markets, strategic management, entrepreneurship, and sustainability, the journal seeks to bridge the gap between theory and practice, providing valuable insights for academics, practitioners, and policymakers.

Dr Kwena Ronald, the Director of Research and innovation at UoK and editor-in-chief of JFMS, emphasized the journal’s role in promoting rigorous research and collaboration: “The establishment of the JFMS aligns with our mission to become a hub for innovative research and thought leadership in Africa and beyond. It provides an invaluable platform for scholars to share cutting-edge ideas and solutions to complex financial and management challenges.”

 Establishing the Journal of Financial and Management Sciences is more than a milestone for the University of Kigali; it is a testament to Rwanda’s growing influence as a center for academic excellence in Africa. By fostering rigorous research and thought-provoking dialogue, the journal promises to make a lasting impact on finance and management, advancing not only scholarship but also practical solutions to today’s most pressing challenges.

Through this endeavor, the University of Kigali reaffirms its commitment to intellectual leadership, empowering scholars, and driving sustainable development on a global scale.

Dr Kwena added that the journal in registered with ISSN: Print 3078-5111/ Online: 3078-512X.  He also added that the University of Kigali has also Journal of Financial and Management Sciences (JFMS) has also secured a Crossref; DOI 10.70970, which will enable sharing of JFMS metadata with the scholarly ecosystem.

The JFMS will focus on high-quality, peer-reviewed articles that address contemporary issues and emerging trends in financial and management sciences. Key objectives of the journal include: Encouraging Research and Innovation: Providing a platform for scholars to publish original, empirical, and theoretical research that advances knowledge in financial and management sciences; Fostering Global Collaboration: Engaging academics and practitioners from diverse backgrounds to contribute to and benefit from the journal’s offerings; Supporting Policy Development: Offering evidence-based insights that can inform decision-making in the public and private sectors and Promoting Regional Development: Highlighting issues pertinent to Africa’s economic and business landscape while addressing global challenges.

The journal’s editorial board comprises distinguished academics and industry experts with extensive experience in finance, economics, and management from Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, India, Ireland, and the United States for America. This team ensures published articles’ quality, relevance, and academic rigor. Adopting a double-blind peer-review process, the JFMS maintains high ethical standards and impartiality, guaranteeing that contributions meet international research benchmarks.

Call for Contributions

The Journal of Financial and Management Sciences (JFMS) invites scholars, researchers, and practitioners to submit manuscripts for publication in the JFMS. The journal accepts research articles, case studies, book reviews, and commentary on pressing financial and management issues.
