Professor Manasseh Nshuti is a distinguished Rwandan accountant, businessman, academic, and politician. He serves as Senior Advisor in the Office of the president in charge of special assignments.
Since October 2013, he has served as the Chairman of the University of Kigali Board of Promoters, one of the leading Private Universities in Rwanda. He also held the position of Chairman of the Board of Promoters responsible for establishing Umutara Polytechnic (University) in the Eastern Province, Nyagatare District. From 2008 to 2012, he served as Chairman of the Board of Governors at the School of Finance and Banking (SFB), where he was tasked with turning the institution around. Following this successful tenure, he, along with other promoters, set up the University of Kigali.
From May 1, 2020, to September 2023, Professor Nshuti served as the Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, in charge of the East African Community of Rwanda. His previous roles include Minister of Commerce, Industry, Investment Promotion, Tourism, and Cooperatives from 2003 to 2005, Minister of Finance and Economic Planning from 2005 to 2006, and Minister of Public Service and Labor from 2006 to 2008. Following his ministerial roles, he served as the Senior Economic Advisor to the President of the Republic of Rwanda from 2008 to 2013.
Professor Nshuti has an extensive academic background. He lectured at Strathmore University in Nairobi, Kenya, for fourteen years and at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa in Nairobi for seven years, where he served as Dean, Faculty of Commerce and later as Deputy Vice Chancellor-Academic. Additionally, he lectured at the University of Aberdeen in the United Kingdom for two years while pursuing his doctoral degree.
Professor Nshuti holds a PhD in Finance from the University of Aberdeen, UK, a Master of Business Administration in Accounting from the same university, and a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) from Makerere University, Uganda.
