Dr. Martin Kang’ethe Gachukia is a distinguished academic, procurement and supply chain management (SCM) expert, and seasoned higher education administrator with over 15 years of leadership experience across academia and professional institutions. He holds a PhD in Supply Chain Management from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) and a Master of Science in Procurement and Logistics, blending strong academic scholarship with extensive practical expertise in procurement, logistics, and curriculum development.

Currently serving as the University Registrar at the University of Kigali, Dr. Gachukia provides strategic leadership to the Office of the Registrar, overseeing academic governance, student records management, examinations, and regulatory compliance with the Higher Education Council (HEC). His role is central to safeguarding the integrity, efficiency, and quality of the University’s academic operations while ensuring full adherence to institutional and national standards.

Prior to this, he served as Registrar and Acting CEO of the Kenya Institute of Supplies Management (KISM), where he led key institutional reforms, including the digitization of member registration through an e-member self-service platform, publication of Kenya’s first procurement professionals’ gazette register, and advancement of policy frameworks under the Supplies Practitioners Management Act.

Dr. Gachukia is an accomplished researcher with publications in peer-reviewed journals focusing on global value chains, sustainable procurement, and e-waste management. He has contributed significantly to capacity building by developing curricula for universities and professional bodies, including CPSP-K, and delivering training under international programs such as the World Bank and the International Trade Centre (ITC).

In addition, he serves as an external examiner, doctoral supervisor, and consultant, reflecting his strong commitment to advancing supply chain management education and professional practice across Africa.

A certified professional of the Kenya School of Government and the Kenya Institute of Supplies Management, and a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT), Dr. Gachukia brings a unique combination of strategic leadership, policy expertise, and a passion for mentoring the next generation of procurement and logistics professionals.
