SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS, FINANCE AND ACCOUNTING

The School of Economics, Finance and Accounting (SEFA) prepares future economists, financial analysts, accountants, policymakers and business leaders with the knowledge, analytical skills and ethical foundations needed to succeed in Rwanda, Africa and the global economy. Students here build strong conceptual knowledge alongside the quantitative, digital and professional skills needed to work through real economic and organisational problems, not just theoretical ones. The School’s programmes are built around Rwanda’s development priorities, the needs of the East African region, and a global economy that runs increasingly on data. Students learn how economies work, how institutions manage and account for resources, how firms make financial decisions, and how good evidence improves both public policy and business performance. Through teaching, research, industry partnerships and community engagement, SEFA works toward sound economic policy, responsible financial management, transparent reporting, entrepreneurship, and growth that reaches everyone. This work is deliberately anchored to the plans that will shape Rwanda and the continent over the next generation: the second National Strategy for Transformation (NST2, 2024–2029), Rwanda’s long-term Vision 2050, and the African Union’s Agenda 2063.
