Dr. Cyprien Sikubwabo (PhD) is a Rwandan education scholar, academic leader, and Senior Lecturer specializing in Educational Leadership and Management. He has over fifteen years of experience in higher education, teaching, research, and university administration.Â
Dr. Sikubwabo holds a PhD in Educational Leadership and Management from the University of Rwanda, alongside Master’s degrees in English (Linguistics and Literature) and Educational Planning, Management, and Administration respectively. His academic and professional journey reflects a strong interdisciplinary foundation in education, language studies, leadership, and institutional management.
Throughout his career, Dr. Sikubwabo has served in several senior academic and managerial positions, including Associate Deputy Vice-Chancellor at the University of Kigali, Vice-Chancellor of Kigali Independent University (ULK), and Deputy Vice-Chancellor in Charge of Academics of Kigali Independent University (ULK). In these roles, he has provided strategic leadership in academic planning, curriculum development, quality assurance, policy formulation, and institutional growth.Â
As a lecturer, Dr. Sikubwabo has taught a broad range of courses in education, linguistics, literature, research methodology, communication, and management at institutions such as the University of Kigali, Rwanda Polytechnic, Mount Kenya University, Mahatma Gandhi University-Rwanda, and INES-Ruhengeri. He has supervised many postgraduate and undergraduate research projects, demonstrating his commitment to mentoring emerging scholars and researchers.
Dr. Sikubwabo is also an active researcher and prolific author, with numerous peer-reviewed journal articles and published books focusing on educational leadership, student enrollment, language education, workforce transition, and institutional effectiveness. He serves as a reviewer for several international and regional scholarly journals. Beyond academia, Dr. Sikubwabo is actively engaged in professional and regional higher education bodies, including the Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA) and university governance structures. Â
Dr. Cyprien Sikubwabo has research interests in educational leadership and management, particularly in higher education institutions. He focuses on student enrollment, access, retention, and academic success in universities. He is also interested in curriculum development, quality assurance, and institutional effectiveness. His work includes language education, pedagogy, and learner academic performance across education levels. Additionally, he studies higher education policy, governance, and graduate employability in relation to the labor market.
