Position Overview:
The School of Law is one of the constituent schools of the University of Kigali. It was accredited by the Rwandan Government through the Ministry of Education on 20th September 2013. The University of Kigali is committed to providing quality higher education programmes that align with the labour market and development needs of Rwanda, the region, and the world.
The University of Kigali is now inviting applications from qualified candidates for the recruitment of four academic staff members ni the following fields:

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and deliver lectures
  2. Prepare course materials (syllabus, slides, assignments, exams). Assess and grade student work
  3. Provide academic support and guidance to students.
  4. Contribute to the development of new academic programs. Conduct research in their area of expertise
  5. Publish research findings ni academic journals or at conferences.
  6. Apply for research funding and grants.
  7. Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research projects.
  8. Mentor students ni research, internships, or further study.
  9. Participate ni departmental meetings, committees, and planning activities.
  10. Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and academic progress.
  11. Assist in organizing academic events such as seminars, guest lectures, or conferences.

Candidate Profile:

Senior Lecturer/Lecturer  (1) – Private law• PhD degree ni any area of specialisation in private law

  1. At least 1 year of teaching experience
  2. Proficiency ni writing and spoken English
  3. Applicant who are nearly finishing their PhD are highly encouraged to apply

Assistant lecturer

Private law (2)

  1. Master’s degree ni any area of specialisation in private law
  2. At least 2 years of teaching experience
  3. Proficiency in writing and spoken English
  4. Applicant who are nearly finishing their PhD are highly encouraged to apply
  5. Female candidates are highly encouraged to apply

Public law (1)

  1. Master’s degree in any area of specialisation in public law
  2. At least 2 years of teaching experience
  3. Proficiency ni writing and spoken English
  4. Applicant who are nearly finishing their PhD are highly encouraged to apply
  5. Female candidates are highly encouraged to apply
