Mr. Ndamage John holds a Master of Education Administration Planning and Policy Studies from the same University (OUT). I am a PhD candidate in the Faculty of Education from the Open University of Tanzania and have a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology with Education from the University of Rwanda (UR), former Kigali Institute of Education (K.I.E). I have eight progressive years of working experience in the area of Education at the university level.
I am an assistant lecturer at the University of Kigali in the School of Education. I have held various positions, including head of the department in the School of Business Management and Economics (SBM&E), which I joined in 2022. In 2019, I was appointed as coordinator of Nyanza learning center, where I have held various leadership responsibilities.
Under the above positions, I played a vital roles and responsibilities including; liaising with existing academic staff members, supervisors, and students in order to achieve set goals, observing, analyzing, and offering suggestions on current operations, scheduling meetings and training sessions with academic staff and students assisting with recruitment, training, and on boarding processes, establishing professional relationships with students, staff, and other stakeholders, ensuring all health and safety, as well as University regulations are followed by academic staff at all times, liaising with academic staff and organizing team building events that take everyone’s needs into account, conducting research, writing up reports, and presenting findings to staff and other stakeholders, maintaining relationships with students and finding creative ways to expand the University, attending workshops, lectures, and training sessions wherever possible, keeping and maintaining the safety of exams and marks at department level.
I am honest, hardworking and development oriented individual, enjoys challenges and have ability to work towards finding solutions. I always focus on creating a safe and nurturing environment for our local and international students and works closely with the school to ensure a high quality student experience.
I have been lecturer since 2017 update where I started as a part time lecturer and because of quality of teaching and service delivery at work place, I was recruited as fulltime employee and was promoted to a rank of assistant lecturer. I taught various discipline in the area of Education and Public Administration and Local governance. Here are some of responsibilities I undertake on the position of assistant lecturer; to teach at undergraduate in areas of specialization as allocated by the University Management, to carry out research and produce publications or other research outputs in line with personal objectives agreed in the staff review process, to engage with the broader scholarly and professional communities, to supervise or assist with supervision of undergraduate, to contribute to the development, planning and implementation of a high-quality curriculum, to assist in the development of learning materials, preparing teaching materials and maintaining records to monitor students’ progress, achievement and attendance.
Furthermore, before I joined the university, I was a deputy head teacher in charge of discipline and also a teacher of Biology subject at Nyagatare secondary school since 2016, where I executed the following responsibilities: problem-solving concerning the discipline department, body, cloth, and environmental hygiene, provide guidance and counseling to the students concerned, developing interrelationship among students and teachers, chairing meetings with students’ prefectural body and teachers at school level, representing the school in and out-side, entry, teaching Biology subject to students and exit-permission of students and visitors.
