On Thursday, 9th October 2025, the University of Kigali (UoK) School of Education had the pleasure of hosting two distinguished guests, Laura Nevanlinna and Sanna Lukander, the visionary founders of The Campus Company, Finland. Laura, a dynamic business strategist and social entrepreneur, brings a wealth of experience from international publishing, digital entertainment, and educational innovation. Driven by a passion for global learning impact, she is redefining teacher education through creative, technology-driven approaches.

Sanna, an internationally recognized expert in educational innovation, digital learning, and storytelling, is the pioneer behind the Fun Learning Method, a transformative approach that has shaped how teachers engage and inspire learners across the world for over 30 years. Together, Laura and Sanna are championing the “Fun Campus Learning Concept,” an exciting initiative aimed at empowering early childhood educators to make learning more enjoyable and meaningful for children. Their hybrid strategy combines online learning with vibrant local training hubs where teachers collaborate, exchange ideas, and refine their practice.

The Campus Company has already established strong partnerships with MINEDUC, REB, and several universities and NGOs, including the Catholic University of Rwanda, as part of their mission to set up Fun Learning Campuses in Rwanda, Ukraine, Vietnam, and beyond. At UoK, the guests were warmly received by Dr. Elizabeth Owino, Dean of the School of Education; Mr. David Kaberuka, Head of Department; and CPA Dorcas Kamau, Director of Partnerships and International Affairs. They also met with senior university leadership, including Prof. Kimathi, Vice Chancellor; Prof. Adeola, DVC Academic and DVC HR; and Dr. Ronald Kwena, Acting DVC Research, Innovation and Enterprise.

As part of their visit, Laura and Sanna interacted with students in one of the Education classrooms led by Madam Virginie, observing firsthand the passion and dedication that define the University of Kigali’s teacher education experience. Their visit marks the beginning of an inspiring collaboration aimed at enriching early childhood education through creativity, technology, and fun, reinforcing UoK’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of innovative educators.
