The University of Kigali (UoK) made a remarkable impact on Day One of the International Conference on Green Sustainable Development (ICGSD) 2026, showcasing its academic leadership, research excellence, and commitment to advancing sustainable development solutions. The University was prominently represented across high-level panels, session leadership, and scholarly presentations. Dr. Ronald Kwena participated in the prestigious Co-Chairs’ Panel Address on the theme “The Role of Higher Learning Institutions in Fostering Sustainable Development,” contributing valuable perspectives on how universities can drive sustainable transformation through research, innovation, and policy engagement.

In addition, Prof. Wasajja–Kiwanuka chaired the Social Equity and Sustainable Development Session, guiding critical discussions on inclusive and sustainable growth.

Dr. Martin Gachukia delivered a presentation on “The Role of Natural Gas in Sustainable Logistics, Maritime Decarbonization and Africa’s Emerging Potential,” highlighting opportunities for cleaner energy transitions in Africa’s transport and logistics sectors.
