On 23rd June, 2022, the University of Kigali Musanze Campus has hosted IKIRENGA CULTURE TOURISM FESTIVAL, it is an event organized by IKIRENGA as N.G.O in conjunction with Musanze District. Hosting this event is one of the strategies of University of Kigali, Musanze Campus to increase its visibility in community and strengthen its partnership with private and public institutions.
The theme of this event was a discussion on THE ROLE OF ART AND CULTURE IN BOOSTING TOURISM.
The event has target to promote Rwandan culture among the young generation, enlighten their patriotism, especially University Students and to encourage their creativity in art and music with the aim of boosting tourism in Musanze which is already a tourist destination in Rwanda.

Panel members tried to enlighten students on how culture connects people to each other and how it can generate revenue if used well. The language, religion, art, literature parts of our culture linked Rwandans together, said one of the panelists.in Rwanda we have a good culture which can attract the tourist and merge the economy.

Nowadays, some young people behave badly because of acculturation, lack of values or do what is forbidden by Rwandan culture, the negative impact is remarkable on communication, on attitudes, adolescents blindly following trends, placing peer pressure and the desire to integrate on their own moral values.

The purpose of this discussion was to make the young generation aware, that our culture is beyond the reproach if all Rwandans know that it can generate money if it is well valued. The students of UoK wanted those discussions to be periodic.
