On 6th August 2023, Unity club Intwararumuri members visited University Kigali-Musanze Campus as part of the closing ceremony of the ‘Ndi umunyarwanda’ Competition. The theme of the public lecturer was ‘Closing Ceremony of the Ndi umunyarwanda competition and awarding the best eight performers in songs and poems. The event, graced by the 1st vice chairperson of Unity club Intwararumuri, Hon. Kayisire M.Solange, Unity Club Intwararumuri Executive Secretary, Madam Iyamuremye Regine, Mr. Eric Niyomugabo, MINEDUC representative, Musanze District Vice Mayor, Lieutenant Colonel KABENGERA Viateur, the RDFCSC, and other authorities, served as an inspiring reminder of the potential of young individuals to shape a harmonious and prosperous future for Rwanda based on unity, resilience and Ndi Umunyarwanda.

The Unity Club was formed on February 28, 1996, by Her Excellency Madam Jeannette KAGAME, Rwanda’s First Lady. She gathered spouses of male Cabinet members and spouses of female Cabinet members with the goal of instilling a culture of togetherness and harmony, which is the foundation of a country’s long-term growth.

I invite you to lend them your ears and focused attention so that you fully understand the important message from guest of honor on our own history”

At the event, the 1st vice chairperson. lauded the students’ efforts and the University of Kigali’s commitment to nurturing responsible and active citizens. In a motivating address, the 1st chairperson emphasized the pivotal role of the youth in maintaining Rwanda’s hard-earned peace and progress. “Unity, resilience and Ndi Umunyarwanda   are the cornerstones of our nation’s strength,” the 1st chairperson stated. and encouraged by the University of Kigali’s initiative in nurturing these values among its students.

The event not only celebrated the achievements of the students but also reinforced the notion that the youth’s dedication to these values is pivotal to the nation’s enduring progress. The students of the University of Kigali have shown that unity and patriotism remain powerful unifying forces. The competition and award ceremony stand as a beacon of hope, reminding us that when guided by these values, the youth can lead Rwanda towards a future defined by strength, prosperity, and unwavering national pride

She concluded by expressing appreciation to Her Excellency Madam Jeannette KAGAME, the First lady of Rwanda who initiated Unity club Intwararumuri with the aim of promoting a culture of unity and resilience which is the foundation of sustainable development of Rwandans.

During the closing of the competition on the topic “NDI UMUNYARWANDA MU KUBAKA UBUDAHERANWA,” contestants in poems and songs were recognized for demonstrating extraordinary mobilization efforts via their innovation. To motivate them, they received rewards consisting of certificates and a sum of money. The awards not only honored their remarkable efforts, but also inspired others to continue their goal of unity, perseverance, and patriotism. The 1st Vice chairperson of Unity club Intwararumuri thanked the winners and encouraged other students to play active roles in helping Rwanda achieve a better future. She stressed the critical role that young people have in creating a country’s fate. “Unity, resilience, and patriotism are not just catchphrases; they are the very foundations of a prosperous society.”

Ndi Umunyarwanda club was commenced officially at the UoK Musanze Campus, where members confirmed their dedication to nurturing well-rounded citizens and to contribute positively to society. Unity Club Intwararumuri provided a support to the club members with a cheque of the Rwf 500,000 (Five hundred thousand Rwandan francs) for its operations.
