On Thursday, the 14th of November, 2024, Dr. Abdulla Baguma represented the Inter-University Council of East Africa (IUCEA) in a fact-finding mission at the UoK. Dr. Baguma, a long-serving Higher Education Council (HEC) staff member and a distinguished member of IUCEA, met with the DVCA, Prof Margaret Oloko, the Academic Registrar, Dr. Martin Gachukia, and the DQA Dr. Elizabeth Owino. The meeting was an awareness creation session on the role of IUCEA, East African Quality Assurance Network(EAQAN), and Rwandan Quality Assurance Network (RWQAN).
The meeting explored the many opportunities available through IUCEA, including staff and student mobility, leadership training, and research. IUCEA was interested in finding out the institution’s quality assurance policy practices. Dr. Baguma noted with appreciation the fact that at UoK, not only does the institution adhere to the EAQAN policies and regulations but also has hard copies available and has participated by attending conferences and trainings organized by EAQAN.
Dr. Baguma thanked UOK for hosting RWAQAN members who couldn’t not travel to Kenya for the 13th EAQAN forum by giving them space to follow the proceedings virtually. He further reiterated that IUCEA has greater opportunities for UoK academic and non-academic staff.
