The Chairman, Board of Promoters for University of Kigali, Prof. NSHUTI Manasseh, was among the high dignitaries invited to speak at the famous Youth Speak Forum that was held on Thursday 14 September, 2017 at Kigali Village and Conference Hall in Kigali.
The conference was opened officially by the Minister of Youth, Ms Rosemary Mbabazi who welcomed the young delegates from different countries including; Uganda, Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria, Ethiopia and Tanzania who had gathered in Kigali to discuss the role of the Youth in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals in Africa.

The Minister briefed the students about the SDGs and reminded them of their duty as young people to be at the forefront in implementing the 17 development goals contained in the above development programme adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on September 25, 2015.
“You have a long life expectancy and a big role to improve the lives of your respective societies. Leadership is about influencing community where you should influence change and start from there in the implementation of SDGs. You have grown up in the age of modern technology and you have all it takes to develop society,’’ said Rosemary MBABAZI, one of the newly appointed cabinet ministers.
Speaking at the same forum, Prof. NSHUTI Manasseh, a senior academician and former Rwandan Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, told the participants that young people have not been involved in decision making for a long time.
‘’Time has come to involve the youth in decision making as they are potential beneficiaries in various developmental policies. You must own these policies as you have a leading role in the fight against global poverty that is affecting a big population of young people worldwide,’’ said Nshuti, who is also the chairman, of UoK Board of Promoters.
