University of Kigali welcomed about 500 new students on Monday 4th September, 2017 at its main campus in Kacyiru, Kigali. At the orientation ceremony, the acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Danson MUSYOKI Kimeu, announced that the admission process continues throughout September to allow students wishing to join the Institution to do so.

Prof. MUSYOKI, a senior researcher, academician and expert in finance and accounting said” I congratulate you for your good performance at school level and thank you for choosing University of Kigali as your knowledge partner. This is the right choice you made”.
He further added, “I encourage you to challenge yourself and take advantage of University of Kigali’s status as one of the leading Private Institutions of learning in the country and benefit from its academic programs and quality education for your bright future.” In addition, he cautioned them to be disciplined and time conscious, as this was part of the culture at the University.
The Ag. Vice Chancellor emphasized to the new students that the University was a new environment where they are going to learn new things and later start working and therefore should wisely utilize the time available and be actively involved in class for better performance in their assignments, continuous assessment tests and exams.
Speaking at the same meeting, the University’s Deputy Vice Chancellor in charge of Academics, Prof. Murty KOPPARTHI, told the newcomers that the University has the responsibility to groom them into responsible citizens that will in future transform community and the country at large.
‘’We shall fulfill our responsibility of educating you but you should also be committed and ready to put in all efforts to ensure that you be become successful professionals,’’ said the Indian Professor.

The Director of Quality Assurance and Research, Prof. Hussein DEMIR, a Turkish national, told the students that the University was a different environment from high school where they will learn to think creatively, analytically and universally not locally.
‘’Our aim is to teach you to have critical thinking and equip you with quality education that will enable you compete successfully on the job market. Rwanda is now part of the global community and you will need to compete with others,’’ said the UoK Official.
The University Administrator, Mr. Paul Jules NDAMAGE, welcomed the new students and emphasized that UoK was ready to provide all the necessary Academic Infrastructure to ensure that the students acquire the best skills and knowledge required for their success and the transformation of the Rwandan society. He however reminded them that to achieve that, the students had to be disciplined to take advantage of the Quality education offered by the Institution.

During the induction, students were given briefings among others; general academic information, academic quality, Registration services, students and financial services. The orientation ceremony was also attended by Deans of Faculties, Heads of Departments, The Dean of Students, Ms Pierette MANISHIMWE and the Director of Communications and Public Relations, Mr. KAMURU Charles.
